Share Deposit Insurance has Increased |
 |
President George W. Bush signed into law the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 on October 3, 2008 which temporarily increases federal deposit insurance coverage. The new law, effective October 3, 2008, will remain in place through December 31, 2009. The law provides for an increase in the minimum National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) coverage from $100, 000 to $250,000 on member share accounts. This includes all account types, such as regular share, share draft, money market and certificates of deposit. Individual Retirement Account and Keogh account coverage remains at up to $250,000 separate from other types of accounts owned. Phishy Phone Calls About Your Credit Card |
 |
Many Richmond area residents are reporting that they are receiving phone calls about their credit cards. The phone calls are stating that your credit card needs activation or that some other problem exists. Then your credit card number and /or PIN number is requested for verification.
These calls are fraudulent attempts to steal your credit card information. No matter what, do not give ANY information. If you are concerned about your credit card you may call the number on the back of your card 24/7 or contact a Connects branch during business hours at 804-756-5000 or 800-833-5200.
Connects has not had any system or information breach. These calls are random attempts and try to represent various financial institutions to area residents.
